Step by step
- Open the schedule. Open the .mpp from Finder on Mac, or through the document picker on iPhone and iPad.
- Check what was extracted. Review tasks, dates, hierarchy and dependencies, and read the data note if the file uses fields GanttPeek does not extract.
- Export the report. On Mac choose File then Export Schedule Report as PDF. On iPhone and iPad use the More menu and pick the PDF share action.
- Save or send it. Choose a destination. The PDF is a new file; the source MPP is untouched.
Why generate the PDF locally
- A schedule usually names staff, durations and client commitments, so uploading it to a converter is a disclosure.
- Local generation works offline, which matters when you are producing the PDF in a meeting rather than at a desk.
- The recipient needs no Microsoft licence, no account and no app to read the result.
- CSV export is available alongside PDF when the recipient wants the task list in a spreadsheet.
Honest limits
Read this before you rely on it. GanttPeek states what it does not extract rather than presenting a partial read as a complete one.
- The PDF reflects only the fields GanttPeek extracts. Baselines, progress, constraints, notes, custom fields and resource costs are not included.
- Password-protected MPP files cannot be opened and therefore cannot be exported.
- The export is a readable report, not a certified reproduction of a Microsoft Project print layout.
- Always compare a critical export against the source plan before relying on it.
Questions
Can I convert MPP to PDF without uploading it?
Yes. GanttPeek generates the PDF on your own device.
Does the PDF include the Gantt chart?
The schedule report presents the extracted plan in readable form, including task hierarchy and dates.
Can I export just the task list?
Yes. Export tasks as CSV instead of, or alongside, the PDF.
Is the original file changed?
No. Exports create new files and the source MPP is never modified.
